I'm back after a mini hiatus (:

July has really been a helluva busy month for me. University camps, meetups with dear friends, final few driving lessons before the day of reckoning on 17th Aug, late night fun and supper, my Sister's convocation at NTU and shopping frenzy! It seems like the next two weeks will probably be equally as busy for me too with NUS Business O-week coming up later next week. Bah, I really have to find time to catch up with friends before the university term starts!

Anyway, I shall try to summarise the highlights of my week as short & sweet as possible. Haha... Pardon me if it ends up being really boring.

Well, Business FOC and Union Camp were quite an experience. Biz camp was by far much better than UC camp in term of games. But, the people I got to know from both camps were a fun bunch! Its quite amazing how so many friendships could be forged within such a short span of time. I really do hope once school starts, I will still be able to keep in contact with them though it would be pretty impossible. I'm glad that both my OGs of both camps made efforts to meet up even after the camp ended, especially the TITANS! Super GUNG-HO bunch, I like (: I'm still eagerly awaiting for my mahjong sessions with OG mates from Pharoides & Titans to transpire, although Ryan Peh did set one on 15/08. Don't know whether that would happen. Hahah...

Hmmm, I met up with my dear ol' girl friends. Of course that includes my most lovely besties, QIANLI & JOANNE (okay Rong Hui is included too, although he's not a she), my crazy St Margaret's gang (JIAQIAN, DEBBIE, SUETYI & LEONGPARN!) and not forgetting my gorgeous GOLDEN GIRLS (: I can't imagine what I would do without all you guys to brighten up my mundane life :D You are all the sunshine of my life okay.

Anyway, to see photos of my past few weeks, please go browse through my Flickr and Facebook account! (: I'm too lazy to upload them here because it is just too bloody cumbersome. Ahem hopefully, this will encourage some of you who have yet to get a Facebook account to get one RIGHT NOW!

I shall go think of some cheers and games for my O-week SHAN JI OG now. Ciao!

The past and present week was & has been well... very productive for me! HAHA... Mahjong sessions, ktv-ing with OG & bestest friends, driving lessons, bad mambo night at Zouk, eating good food, shopping sprees... Same old stuff.

Another mahjong session coming up on Friday :) Let's hope I actually get to win some money this time!

Bah, this week is officially an insanely bad skin week for me. I think it must be my current diet that caused the growth of the two horridly hideous (note my alliteration :P) pimples on my forehead. Darn, any suggestions on how to get rid of them asap?

Oh, onto even more depressing news... FERNANDO TORRES IS MOVING TO LIVERPOOL! Crap, why? I would have much preferred him to continue playing in the La Liga. I think most players who move to play English soccer tend to under-perform? HAH...

My tuition kid aka Guan Wei's birthday and NUS Union Camp is coming up. Looks like a busy week for me again! GAH... This also means that my dearest QIANLI will be leaving Singapore soon! I realised thinking about her departure always gets me into a go-away-i-don't-want-to-be-disturb mood :(

I'm back from Biz camp and feeling deadbeat!

Does anyone out there have any face whitening products to recommend to me? I'm trying to get rid of the tan that I got over the last few days. HAHA!

Anyway, I just realised that this week will be a busy week for me. Hooray! At least I know I won't be bumming around and trying to kill time. Driving and spending time with my good ol' friends are seriously my favourite pastimes now.

I just realised that Facebook can be really addictive. HAHA! Gita is so right about that. To everyone out there, GO GET A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT and you'll know what I mean :)

Woah, how long has it been since I last came here? It seems like there really isn't much to talk about these days huh.

I'll be MIA for the next 4 days due to Biz camp. Gosh, when was the last time I attended a camp? Secondary 3?! HAHA, Oh well...

The good thing is that my dear QIANLI will be back from China soon, which means fun times and mambo soon :) Darn, I'll really miss her when she leaves for Boston.

My mom is thinking of going on a short holiday in July. I'm glad she's finally come to her senses that she needs a respite from work. Since it's an all-expense paid trip, I'm definitely all for it. Hmmm guys, any suggestions as to where to go? Korea, Taiwan, HK/Macau, China?

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I have been too busy and lazy to update tinseltassels. It doesn't help make it easier that I'm having a splitting headache as I'm typing this entry.

Anyway, I've decided not to take up the waitressing job at Brussels Sprouts. I just can't see myself slogging it off when I can be shopping or lazing around during the weekends. Hopefully, I'll be able to find some tuition kids this month to make up for the lost income.

Oh, I got a haircut at Next Salon in Holland Village. Its the shortest haircut I've gotten in a long long time. I like the ambience of the salon, very gothic! Anyway, if you want to see how it looks like, please ask me out! HAHA!

Qian will be leaving for Boston on 18th August! My driving test is on 17th August! It will totally be double the heartbreak if I fail my driving test the day before I send Qian off to Boston. How am I going to survive without her around? :( It was already quite a huge blow for me when Gita left for the States about 2 years ago, now this! Darn, I hate good-byes.

Oh well.. Onto my long overdue post about my EUROPE TRIP. So, Mixue, my Sis and I visited Italy, Switzerland, Germany (only briefly) and France. Like I said before, I'm so in love with Europe now, or maybe more like Switzerland and France :D I'm more in love with European guys. They are charming, charismatic, spontaneous, upfront and friendly. My kind of guy!

First off, Qatar - Very desert-like, at least around the vicinity of the Doha Interntional airport. Things were insanely priced over there. Qatarians must be really affluent. Perhaps, I'll actually get to visit the country in the future. Who knows?

Italy - I must admit Venice was a little disappointing. The gondola rowers tried to cheat us of the duration of our ride, but our tour guide managed to get us a compensation for us. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful city, but definitely not my honeymoon destination anymore. My impression of Rome is a city of many ruins. HAHA! Its just funny to see dug-up grounds and majestic ruins in the middle of the city centre. Stepping into the Vatican City was just simply mind-blowing. The intricate architecture and paitings of St Peter's Basilica was amazing. The Leaning Tower Of Pisa is such a work of art. I just wished we could have spent more time there! Milan was nothing great, didn't seem like the city of fashion to me. Siena and Florence, were by far, my favourite cities in Italy! Sublimely stunning and very romantic. I witnessed a couple of newly-weds taking their wedding photos in these cities. Hopefully, I'll be doing the same thing 10 years down the road :) Oh yes, I must add Italian gelato is cheap and yummy! I swear I can live on melon gelato for the rest of my life!

Switzerland - Switzerland, oh Switzerland. I love you! The land of many mountains, but it's actually pretty modern too! It's as clean and organised as Singapore! Lucern and Geneva were pretty. The three of us wrote our names the Keppell Bridge. The next time I go back to Lucern, i'm so going to find that spot! Rhinefall were pretty serene, although the size cannot be compared to the Niagara Falls, in Mixue's words. Did I mention that people earn big bucks over there. According to my guide, waitressing there can earn you CHF 2000-2500 a month, which is SGD2300++! Amazing! I went casino-crazy there, and ultimately lost money. But who cares, casinoes are just such a thrill! We went to this restaurant called Bebbie's at Interlaken. The owner (Bebbie, no prizes for guessing) was such a joker. He actually carried me around his restaurant. I shall not go into further detail, but all I can say is that he's crazily hilarious! Highlight of my stay in Interlaken: I TOOK A PICTURE WITH A LIFE-SIZE LEE DONG GUN CARDBOARD! Hmmm... It was a pity that I didnt get to see the top of Jungfrau from Jungfraujoch due to the blistering snow. Trummelbachfalle was pretty cool too. It's the only waterfall in the world that flows into a mountain. Hmm... I also got to experience snow weather up in a village called Leukerbad. It was pretty surreal, considering that it is summer. I was so not prepared for the cold weather in Switzerland. Let's just say all my clothes were all summer-friendly - tube tops, sleeveless dresses, you get the picture. I can't believe I survived with only 1 thin black cotton jacket throughout the whole trip. HAH!

Germany - It was pretty much touch and go here. I visited the Lake Titisee region which sells many cuckoo clock and ate a gnarly pork knuckle.

France - What more can I say about Paris that all of you already don't know? Effiel Tower, Arc De Triomphe, Notre Dame, The Lourve... It was the most bustling city I visited. In my opinion, it a very livable city because its developed, yet quaint at the same time. The only downside is that things are exhorbitantly priced there. The only things that are sold there that is cheaper than Singapore are probably LV and Gucci bags. The streets of Paris also have public toilet cubicles that resemble long metallic boxes. The funniest thing about these toilets are that the doors instantly open after 5 minutes, regardless of whether you having finished up with your business. HAHA! The Mona Lisa was also smaller than I expected, it was hard to get a picture of it taken as photo-taking was not allowed. Anyway, I did visit the Roland Garros Village for a short while. Damn, the rain totally ruined all my plans. Paris was actually much colder than expected. It was 4 degrees C on my first day there and 8 on the second. Grrr... Oh, during our drive into Dijon, everyone was so urgent for the toilet that the guys in the tour group actually peed by the bushes along the mountain roads. HAHA! Of course, the ladies didn't do that. Thank God I was not one of those who needed to pee badly. It must have been tormenting!

All in all, I had a wonderful experience. The tour group memebers, tour guide and our Slovenian bus driver were pretty fun people, which always helps to make the trip all the more pleasant. I also realised that Europeans love to drive SMART cars! They should bring it over to Singapore. Then, many people, like myself, would be able to afford to drive to school! HAHA!

Oh no. I miss Europe! I miss the architecture and scenary. I MUST go for an Exchange Programme to Switzerland or France and I'm aiming for the 2 semester ones. NUS, please choose me for the Language Preparation Programme!

I shall end off with some of the 3000++ photos we took during the entire trip. WARNING: PICTURE OVERLOAD!

ARGH! I desperately need to recuperate now. I'm off to sleep.

<centre>

Hi guys! I'm back from Europe. I had a blast there, although I wasn't prepared for the freakish cold weather in Switzerland & France. I have to admit Italy was a bit of a disappoinment. Venice was far from romantic. I didn't expect the waters there to be so stinky. HAHA! But nevertheless, I had a fun time. I got to go to the French Open (Roland Garros) in Paris, but I didn't get to watch any tennis matches due to the rain & overwhelming crowds! Oh well :(

Anyway, I LOVE LOVE LOVE EUROPE, especially the serenity of SWITZERLAND! Sometimes, having a temporary retreat from the hustle & bustle of city life can do a person good. I got to go to the casinos in Switzerland too :) Gah, I think Switzerland is probably my second most favourite country now.

Okay, I'm tired. I'll write a proper entry about my trip the next time around :) Check back soon!

So many things to settle, so little time! ARGH

NUS BUSINESS, here I come!

I'm sure many of you may be surprised by my decision. Well, all I can say is that it was a VERY TOUGH, but calculated decision. I was literally having major palpitations as I pressed the 'Submit' button. Aye, rejecting my place at NTU Comm Studies was a huge heartbreak for me okay! But... there's no turning back now. I know I'll live with my decision. Anyone who's heading for NUS BUSINESS, please give me a buzz.

Anyway, Bodyjam lesson with qian at the gym yesterday was amusing, really amusing. I should go back some time next month & do it again.

Well, this is my last entry before I head for my EURO 2007 trip! My sister, Mixue & I are looking forward to tagging along with married couples on their first/second honeymoons. I never knew it can be a hassle to plan a 2-week wardrobe, but it just has to be done. Oh, did I mention that I'll be transitting at Doha?! How extremely exotic :B

So, it's Adieu Singapur (for now), Bonjour Italie, la Suisse & la France!

To my dear friends especially NGAI QIANLI: You'll be missed! Enjoy youself in Tokyo, QIANLI! I'll see ya'll in 15 days. I'm so watching Pirates Of The Caribbean 3 when I return!

I shall leave you with some pictures to sum up my month of May.

I was taking an afternoon stroll down blistering Boat Quay with my sister & something caught out eyes.

It was the signboard of this tattoo shop called "Spirits Of Tattoo". The signboard read:

Spirits Of Tattoo -
The spirit of the person getting the tattoo

Very amusing indeed.

Please tell me what purpose does their slogan serve?

Oh, met up with my GOLDEN GIRLS aka clara, esther & jamie. Anyway, to GGs: LET'S MEET UP ONCE I RETURN FROM EUROPE OKAY :) Love.

Soon, it will be crunch time for me. I'll have to decide on the course I wish to pursue in the university. Whatever it is, I hope I do make the right choice, or I'll probably live in regret for the next 10 years. I'm in such a mind-boggling dilemma over what to pursue in the university.

I've reached a crossroad & I know I'll inevitably have to choose - Business Administration in NUS or Communication Studies in NTU?!

One wrong move and my life MAY be changed forever. Some of you might not necessarily share my sentiment, but I am sure you'll at least agree that it would more or less decide your career path for the next 5-10 years of your life upon graduation. I really do not want to be haunted by a decision that I made at 18 when I embark on my journey into the working world.

In all frankness, I've always thought it would be a clear-cut decision. My stand has been COMMUNICATIONS from the get-go. However, when you are placed in the position where you have, what many people view, a better option to opt for, oh trust me, you would undoubtedly have second thoughts about your original plan in life.

My heart tells me to pursue Communication Studies, but my head tells me to choose Business. The former is where my passion definitely lies and where I would probably have a more fun and enriching experience throughout my university life. However, the latter would provide me with more attractive job prospects and more chances to meet -ahem- certain people. HAHA! Should passion be the ultimate factor in deciding my course of study? That's the question I have yet to find an answer for. And NUS, being a more prestigious university just makes my decision all the more difficult.

Drats, I hate making such hefty decisions. I know this is simply part and parcel of being a typical indecisive & analytical Libran that likes to over-think things. My indecisiveness is one trait I'm so determined to eradicate as time passes. HAHA! I love how studying the Sun signs and astrology can affect your life and allow you to understand yourself better.

Anyway, to anyone reading this, please help me! I'm in desperate need of some enlightenment with regards to this issue. Any advice for me? I'll have to make my decision before I leave for Europe on 18th May, which is next Friday!

Oh no...

Well, at least you'll not hear me mention about anything remotely related to university applications once I return from Europe on 1st June (: Europe, Europe, Europe, I can't wait! Less whiny-Shu-Ann times ahead for everyone. Goodbye my Funny Man Alvin. Goodbye Mrs Veggie-loving Rachel. Goodbye Busy Bee Swee Fun. Goodbye Goofy 3rd Floor Daniel. Goodbye Mrs Chatterbox Wee Li. Goodbye My Cute-but-married Chinese-Indian Eye Candy Edmund Ong (Sorry, no pictures of him. I pray he never reads this!). Goodbye My Trusy Ol’ Fujitsu Laptop with no INTERNET CONNECTION! (Please don’t ask me why it isn’t HP). Goodbye my Temporary SGX Pass. Goodbye Squeaky Clean Washrooms that were my occasional sleeping quarters. Goodbye Mr Old Man whom I keep bumping into in the CBD. You’ll be missed. I have a secret photo of my office. Apparently, no photo-taking is allowed in SGX Centre offices, but who really cares?

Overall, it was an enriching virgin work experience. At least now I know I’m not keen on undertaking a desk-bound job in the future. I still can’t fathom how I managed to survive through 3 & a half months of mundane IT data entry/document formatting/spreadsheet tabulation work. I was so convinced that I wouldn't last through 2 months in the job, but nevertheless, I did! I did enjoyed the times when I had to check on people on behalf of my lovely boss Alvin :) Anyway, I’m pretty sure my co-workers were pleasantly surprised that I endured through my contract term. HAH! It’s a pity though that I did not mingle much with the younger workers in the office. But, I guess I would not have clicked with many of them. Many of them were either Ah Beng wannabes or perverted men who seem to have withdrawal symptoms from working in a female-deprived environment.

So, with that, I end my journey at SGX-HP. Time for me to indulge in a well-deserved break!

It seems like 2007 is my lucky year. So many marvelously strange things have happened to me this year. First, I had quite a few high-paying temporary job offers, of which many I rejected. Next, it was my astounding A-Level results. Oh trust me, I was in utter disbelief for the entire day. Then, I won some funny prize from CapitaMall. This month, I received acceptance letters from NUS Business School and NTU’s School Of Communications :) To top it off, I’m also one of the most unlikely winners for the W Factor Contest organized by SPH’s Urban & Wisma Atria. Yeah, I’m going to be one of the 8 proud owners of a Bang & Olufsen S$1200 Mp3 Player & a S$200 Wisma Atria Shopping Voucher, of which I’m treating qian to a mini shopping spree! But, there is supposedly some photoshoot in the week after next that I’m not looking forward to. Why can’t they just throw me the FREEBIES & leave me alone? HAHA!

Actually, on second thought, 2007 may be a not-so-happy year for me as many of my dear friends may be going overseas for further education :( Looks like I NEED to try to spend as much time as possible with my lovely friends, just in case they really do leave. BAH! I hate farewells.

On a more upbeat note, it’s 14 days until my Europe trip. Hopefully, everything goes as planned on my travel agent’s side.

UPDATE: No photoshoot for me, since I'll be going to Europe on the day itself. At least I get to keep the prizes. Phew!

I had a dream about death. Life can sometimes be so unpredicatable. You'll never know when is it going to be your last day on Earth. From now on, I should try to live everyday like it's the last day of my life.

Loving each day as if it's the last! HAHA!

It got me thinking about what songs I would want to be played during my funeral. I know I do not want it to be such a sad affair, but I do not want RnB or Indie Rock music being played during the occasion. So, I'm going to start creating my funeral songlist with many evergreen tracks. I'll probably update it now and then, when I feel like it.

Funeral Songlist
Air Supply - Goodbye
Andrea Brocelli & Sarah Brightman - Time To Say Goodbye
Bay City Rollers - Bye Bye Baby (Just like in 'Love Actually')
Bruce Springsteen - Secret Garden (I've loved this song since the Jerry Maguire days)
Climer Fisher - Rise To The Occasion / Love Changes (Very inappropriate, but I like this band)
Chopin - Fantaisie Impromptu / Nocturne
Dave Koz - Faces Of The Heart / Partners In Crime
Edwin McCain - I Could Not Ask For More
Faith Hill - Let Me Let Go (The only country singer I like)
Hall & Oates - Someday We'll Know
Keane - Somewhere Only We Know
Kenny G - Dying Young
Peter Cincotti - Rainbow Connection / Up On The Roof / On The Moon (Only his versions. He's got excellent vocals)
Tavares or Hall & Oates - She's Gone

Anyway, I was browsing through some car magazines yesterday and they got me really excited. I've made a promise to myself that I must try to own a Mini Cooper, Mitsubishi I, Volkswagon Touareg & Bentley Continental GTC at one point in my life. The Bentley, though, I know would be highly impossible. Nevertheless, I'll aim high. HAHA!

Lastly, I know this is random, but I would like to mention that I'm a believer of Karma. The more you give, the more you will receive. Just like the more bad deeds you commit, the more bad things will be pass unto you. So everyone, let's start giving and commit more good deeds. It would enrich our lives much more, don't you agree? :)

Last day of work tomorrow! Time to shop for my farewell gifts.

Pictures from Saturday/Sunday as requested. Decisions, decisions, decisions, I hate making decisions. When I do start work, please drop by and patronise the restaurant when you have a craving for delectable Belgian mussels or seafood in general. HAHA! Even if you don't, popping by to say HI would make my day. The address is as follows:

Brussels Sprouts Pte Ltd
80 Mohamed Sultan Road
#01-12 The Pier @ Robertson

which brings me to my next point... 2 days until the end of work! I guess I will miss working at SGX Centre & some of my colleagues (maybe only Alvin & Rachel, not Rachel's diet though). I really enjoy working in the the Central Business District precinct. The whole ambience there is so appealing to me. As said in my VirtualDNA analysis below, I can "see beauty in the most inhospitable environments." That's so true indeed. I simply adore the the hustle & bustle of the city, the concrete jungle environment, the wide variety of food available and the mega huge Watsons stores! I would have contemplated on extending my contract if they had offered me a pay rise. But, they didn't. So, I had to politely reject the offer of extension.

Out of sheer boredom, I have decided to make my checklist not such a secret anymore. Since I'm too lazy to put a picture of my checklist, I shall list it out in words. So, here it goes...

EDITED: I decided to remove it. I think its causing some confusion. Goodbye, I guess it was never meant to be.

Anyway, I must say yesterday's bus rides to & from the office were rather interesting. How often do I have bus tales to tell? Heh. So, on my way to work, I was sitting across this woman who was reading this book entitled "How to talk so teens will listen & listen so teens will talk". I tell you that Mommy was one emotionally charged person. While she was reading that book, I could see that she was almost on the verge of tears. It's a pity that she has to resort to a book to help her handle her relationship with her kid. Are teens nowadays really such a handful?!

Oh well, after that, nearing my workplace, I saw a cat that was ran over by some vehicle on the road. It was an utterly gross sight due to all the spewing out of the guts etc... You get the picture. As much as I dislike cats, I don't think it deserves such a terrible death. It was just saddening.

On my way back, the bus ride was just a sheer torture. I was innocently trying to get a little shut-eye before my tuition lesson. Then, a mom with her 2 kids boarded the bus. That's when all the hubbub started. The brats sat 2 rows in front of me and started age-counting "1 years old...2 years old...3 years old...". The worst thing was that these brats were such amateurs at their numerics that they repeated "24 years old" three times, "31 years old" twice and many others a few times! WTH... Seriously, it's amazing how their mom managed to fall asleep with all that noise. Anyway, the counting briefly stopped when they reached "50 years old", and I was thinking "Thank God!" But lo & behold, one of the brats started wailinggg! Apparently, the counting stopped because that brat fell on the bus floor and scratch his hand against the floor or something. So, the wailing continued until i reached my destination, although I did spent the rest of the bus journey hoping that the counting would just start again. Oh please remind me why I dislike kids so much? HAH...

I'm getting a little worried about whether I can hold onto my P4 English tuition job. The kid is still writing lines like "After jogged I went home", "Suddenly, I saw a robbery was stealing Boon Shiong jewerlly" and "Then Boon Shiong was very happy that she had a so good neighbour and I also very happy because I also done a good deed" for his composition! I'm dead serious about this. The aforementioned lines are word-for-word from his composition. It's not my bad English, mind you. His English exams begin at the end of April! I MUST really start working some miracles. I have this sinking feeling that if his results do not improve, my job would be on the line :( Well, I offered him the option to tutor him in Mathematics. I really hope that will help me hold onto the job a little longer.

11 days until the end of work!

Tennis later! Let's hope the weather is kind today :)

It seems like my attempt to update this blog on a more frequent basis is getting along pretty fine.

Anyway, I swear I saw THE cutest guy at my workplace today! He's a Chinese-Indian mix for sure. His gorgeous chiselled features & killer smile are to-die-for. Oh my gosh! But the ring on his left hand said it all. He's so untouchable. What the heck is wrong with me? HAH... He's probably too old for me anyway.

On another note, qianli's leaving for US tomorrow! See you in a week's time girl. Remember, we have a zouk date okay! This time, please hold onto your camera! HAHA.

13 days until the end of work! No more office jobs for me until I officially enter the working world. I'll be a free bird! But that would mean my only source of income from then on would be from tutoring kids. Boo.

For the sake of those who still do not know, I'm providing English & Mathematics tuition for Upper Primary and Secondary School students. I'm VERY reliable & patient :) So, anyone with any tuition jobs to offer me, please feel free to contact me. Thanks!

So, I'm back with a new address after a two year hiatus! Hooray for me :)

I'm not really loving this new template though. It's so much uglier than what I had in mind. I'll work on it when I have more time i guess.

In a nutshell, life's been pretty much a bore due to mundane office work and one exasperating tuition kid. But, I've definitely had some fun times with some great company! You know who you all are.

Anyway, friday/saturday was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Nevertheless, I had a great time. Thanks qian & eve for the company & for holding onto me on the dancefloor :) see, i knew what was going on okay.

By the way, evil-lyn commented that I have a HK ah lian's haircut! Boo...

new beginning, new haircut, new job?!
